Description: Here is the new Fraser sawmill under construction on the hill in Plaster Rock, as it was on October 29th, 1973. We notice the old sawmill at the foot of the hill. On the left, we see the lumber kiln. Once logs were cut into wooden boards, they were dried there. The sawmill is in the foreground. Timber was debarked and cut into boards. We can see the sorting and storage shed at the end of the sawmill, where lumber was sorted by length and quality. We also see a thermal plant on the left of the sawmill. Logs were soaked into hot water to facilitate the debarking process in the mill. The circular building is the incinerator where bark was burned.
