Description: Dryer section and machine stack with calender rolls of the new Number 7 paper machine at the Madawaska Maine Fraser Paper Limited mill,in 1960. The Number 7 paper machine, which is 234 inches wide, has an operating speed of 2,ooo feet per minute. In the 1960s, this machine was considered one of the top paper machines in the industry. The average production per day was 175 tons of uncoated fine paper or 155 tons of groundwood directory paper. This photo was taken for the Paper Trade Journal.
