Description: The construction of the (Plaster Rock) Fraser sawmill, on top of the hill, was completed in 1977. The planer section, where boards were made uniform, was still under construction. We notice the old sawmill at the bottom of the hill near the Tobique River, located between the dam and the bridge. We see two kilns: one at the bottom of the hill near the wood yards and one on top, near the sawing workshop. Once sawed, boards were dried there. Logs were barked and sawed into boards in the sawmill. In the sorting storage room, on the right of the sawmill building, boards were sorted by length and quality. The circular building at the right of the sawmill building is the waste incinerator. It is where wastes, mostly bark, were burned. We notice two wood yards, one located at the bottom of the hill and one on top, where boards were stacked prior to being shipped by train.
