Description : The debarkers at the Edmundston Fraser mill removed bark from 4-foot logs in the 1940s. We see a worker releasing logs with a pickaroon. The long-spot faucets brought water from the river to wash the logs. We notice the absence of a roof over the barkers because they only operated from the end of spring to the beginning of autumn . The wood was hauled-up on conveyors installed on the banks of the Madawaska River. Once logs were debarked, they were brought on conveyors inside the mill or piled for winter operations.
